Michael has lived and worked in the region for more than 14 years, including in Dubai and Riyadh, and combines deep local relationships with experience advising on international leadership appointments.
Michael specializes in financial services and technology, with expertise spanning banking, digital assets, sovereign wealth funds, private capital, fintech, software, data and artificial intelligence. He advises boards and senior executives on leadership appointments, board composition, succession and organizational capability. His focus is the leadership and governance that institutions need to capture the opportunities created by technology and investment.
Before joining DHR, Michael was a Partner at a global executive search firm, where he led its Financial Services and Technology practices across the Middle East and North Africa. He built the regional Financial Services practice and led the firm’s global digital assets coverage. His work included chair and non-executive director appointments, senior executive searches and international client engagements.
Earlier, at Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Michael led senior leadership appointments across the fund and its portfolio companies during a period of rapid institutional growth. In that role, he worked directly with leadership teams to build the executive capability behind the fund’s expansion. Before that, at a global organizational consulting firm, he advised financial institutions and professional services firms on executive search, talent management, strategic workforce planning and reward. Having sat on both sides of the client relationship, he understands how leadership appointments are made and implemented in practice.
Michael has co-authored two white papers on digital assets, regulation and corporate governance. He holds a BSc (Honours) in Computer Science from Makerere University and has been admitted to the CEIBS Global Executive MBA programme, which he will join in 2027.
