DIGINOMICA:
In a more general sense though, it is now considered table stakes rather than a differentiator for finance – and other C-Suite – leaders to be tech-savvy. Jeanne Branthover, Executive Search Consultant and Managing Partner at DHR Global’s financial services and fintech practice, explains:
“It’s very important for CFOs to understand how tech will affect the business, and how to both drive digital transformation and know how it’s going to help the organization. It’s much more than a nice-to-have – it’s a hygiene factor. In the past, leaders relied on their tech people to tell them what to do with technology, but now it’s about partnering with the CIO or CTO to work on tech strategy together. Finance leaders also work with the CEO to build business strategy, so they’re at the center of decision-making in terms of capital allocation, operating models, and performance. And that’s all driven by data, systems, and digital infrastructure.”
