September, 2022

MIAMI (September 12, 2022) – Global executive search firm DHR Global is pleased to announce Philip DeBoer has rejoined the firm as an Associate Partner in the Nonprofit Executive Search Practice. Based in Miami, DeBoer brings fourteen years of experience and expertise in nonprofit management, retained executive search, and leadership consulting to his new position.

DeBoer joined DHR in 2015 and quickly rose to his most recent position as Principal, where he developed a reputation as a trusted and valuable consultant to clients, candidates, and to many partners in the firm. In 2021, he left to pursue his Master of Management in International Arts Management, studying at some of the world’s premier arts management graduate programs at Southern Methodist University, HEC Montréal, and SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan. His graduate studies took him across North and South America, Europe, and Asia.

“The mentorship and training in best-in-class practices I received at DHR, combined with my international graduate studies, prepared me for this promotion. As an Associate Partner, I look forward to utilizing my professional experience and master’s degree to serve our clients with the highest standards of excellence and care,” said DeBoer.

DeBoer has deep experience recruiting CEOs and other senior executives to nonprofit organizations spanning arts and culture, zoos and aquariums, social services, healthcare, economic development, and higher education. His industry expertise, strategic management, and vast, diverse network of established and emerging leaders have made him a highly sought-after consultant. Prior to his career in executive search, DeBoer recruited in higher education.

“Phil returns as a globalist, ready to share a new, broader perspective with me and the other members of the Nonprofit Practice,” said James Abruzzo, Managing Partner of the Global Nonprofit Practice. “It is a tribute to him to interrupt his career path with a year of study and reflection, and a tribute to the firm to encourage him to do so and welcome him back.”

DeBoer will also serve in the firm’s Nonprofit Leadership Consulting Practice. He has served on the auxiliary boards of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Auditorium Theater, and Steppenwolf Theater. He contributes to thought leadership with his research and writing. He also holds a B.A. in Communication Arts & Sciences from Calvin University.
